Luana Persano is director of research at the Nanoscience Institute of the CNR in Italy. She has been Marie-Curie fellow at FORTH, Greece, and visiting scientist at the Harvard University and at the University of Illinois. Her research interests include the development of nanomanufacturing and lithographic approaches to fabricate novel nanocomposites and active materials in the form of films, nanoparticles, and fibers, to incorporate into devices. Currently targeted applications are sensing, energy harvesting and nanophotonics. She is a member of the editorial board of Journal of Applied Polymer Science (Wiley) and Scientific Reports (Nature). She is chair of the conference on Advanced Manufacturing Technologies in the framework of the SPIE Remote Sensing & Security+Defence conference.
